Braithwaite Working on Global Educational Initiatives in Oman

Dr. Chuck Braithwaite is in Muscat, Oman with University of Nebraska-Lincoln's International Engagement and Global Strategies officials working on global educational initiatives. Castle Presents in Ireland


Dr. Kathy Castle, Department of Communication Studies' Director of Undergraduate Education, gave her presentation celebrating the Pearson Award for Innovation in Teaching with Technology, for the Association of Business Communication in Dublin, Ireland.

Communication Studies Kelly, Bonander, Hoerl and Graduate Student, Baker, Attend LGBTQ History Dinner


Drs. Casey Ryan Kelly, Allison Bonander, Kristen Hoerl and graduate student Jonathan Baker represented the Department of Communication Studies at the 15th annual LGBTQ History Dinner on October 19th. This was their largest event, celebrating 10 years of the LGBTQA+ Resource Center on UNL's campus. Awards went to State Senators Adam Morfeld and Patty Pansing Brooks for their work for inclusion, and PFLAG as the longest running LGBTQ support institution in Lincoln. The keynote speaker was Ryan Sallans, a trans advocate and UNL alumni. Pictured: Kelly, Bonander & Baker.

Blood Named Japp Scholar


The Department of Communication Studies congratulates doctoral candidate Adam Blood, named a Phyllis Japp Scholar. This fund is named for Dr. Phyllis Japp who was a member of our faculty from 1986-2009. The fund is generously supported by valued alumni, faculty, and the Japp family, including the Phyllis and Lyle Japp Endowment. In addition to his excellent scholarship and teaching, Adam Blood is the graduate student coach for UNL’s debate team, part of the Cornhusker Speech & Debate program, and a UNL Graduate Student Ambassador.
